Clubs

We are pleased to offer our Huntingtown Elementary students the following clubs this spring. Clubs are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Spring Session After & Before School Clubs

Minecraft Club (Grades K - 2) — 8 weeks
Sponsor: Mrs. Kephart
Location: Computer Lab, Room 38

Students will use the licensed program we are purchasing to play the Minecraft Game under supervision. This club meets on Mondays beginning March 5th from 8 - 8:40 a.m.

Sponsor: Mrs. Bowers
Location: Computer Lab, Room 38

Students will use the licensed program we are purchasing to play the Minecraft Game under supervision. This club meets on Tuesdays beginning March 13th from 8 - 8:40 a.m.


Ukulele Club (Grades 3 - 5) — 7 weeks
Sponsor: Mrs. Stawinski
Location: Music Room

“Intro to Ukulele!” New players, as well as returning Ukulele players are invited. HES has four Ukulele’s that can be loaned to students on a first come, first serve basis, or you can purchase your own. Participants will learn basic chordal accompaniments, as well as experimenting with playing melodies. Please specify if you will be using one of the school instruments, or you will be supplying your own. This club meets on Thursdays beginning March 1st from 8 - 8:40 a.m.


Morning Gym (Grades K - 5) — 12 weeks
Sponsors: Mr. Connolly & Mrs. O'Leary
Location: Gym

Open gym is a club that will work on building mentoring relationships between our older students with our younger students. The focus of the conversations between the students will be on character development/education. This club will also provide the opportunity for our kids to be physically active for 30 minutes before their school day begins. The drop off window for Open Gym will be 8 - 8:05 a.m. This club meets daily beginning March 19th from 8 - 8:40 a.m.


Rad-Dish Kids Cooking Club #1 (Grades K - 2) — 3 weeks
Sponsor: Mrs. Thomas-Lohr
Location: Staff Lounge

Our March and April sessions will feature recipes from Raddish Kids Cooking Club. The kids will prepare Hometown Diner Favorites in a healthy way. Younger students will learn how to increase the serving size of a recipe, and older students will explore cost, revenue and profits. Raddish is designed by a dedicated team of teachers and chefs who believe the kitchen classroom is the tastiest place to learn. We love watching learning come alive when kids mix math, stir science, and taste culture! This club meets on Tuesdays beginning March 6th from 4:05 - 5:30 p.m.

Survivors 1634 4-H Club (Grades 3 - 5) — 8 weeks

Location: Staff Lounge

Garden of the Sensory!! Scented leaves, hidden flavors, bright colors!! Who needs perfume?? Our garden will smell better than anything ever bottled! Wear your sunglasses!! It will have bright colors bouncing off your eyeballs! It will have fuzzy leaves, smooth silky plants and prickly things for you to touch! We’ll have leaves that taste of lemon and cinnamon, eat tasty flowers…Learn how to garden, get your hands dirty digging in the dirt and see, smell, touch and taste exciting new things! We’ll do garden art and science all along the way! This club meets on Wednesdays beginning March 21st from 3:45 - 5:00 p.m. 4-H required online registration information will be given at the first meeting. Fee: There is a $10 annual membership to 4-H to be paid at the first session.


Craft Club (Grades 1 - 3) — 4 weeks
Sponsors: Mrs. Wood & Mrs. Kephart
Location: Art Room

Students will make projects to take home including Easter and spring crafts. This club meets on Wednesdays beginning March 21st from 4 - 5:00 p.m.


Pottery Club (Grades 3 - 5) — 5 weeks
Sponsors: Mrs. Baker & Mrs. White
Location: Art Room

Students will take clay from flat to three dimensional. They will make bowls to donate to the Empty Bowl Supper. Students will also make a bowl to take home. This club meets on Wednesdays beginning February 28th from 8 - 8:40 a.m.


Knitting Club (Grades 3 - 5) — 6 weeks
Sponsors: Ladies from Huntingtown United Methodist Church
Location: Staff Lounge

Students will learn to knit with the help of a wonderful group of ladies from HUMC. Starting materials will be provided. All levels welcome. No experience necessary! This club meets on Wednesdays beginning March 7th from 3:45 - 4:45 p.m.
